Rule of thumb for material calculations:
Decorative stone and gravels
General rule – double the diameter for minimum depth. 1″ should be figured at 2″ depth and 1 1/2″ should be figured at 3″ and so on…
Mixed sizes 2″ – 4″ and 3″-5″ – use the largest sizes as the minimum depth.
Flagstone
General rule – 1″ +/- 140Sf per ton | 1-2″ +/- 100-120Sf per ton | 2″-3″ 60-70Sf per ton
Coverage will vary due to individual installation differences.
River Rounds
Approximate coverage per ton
3″-5″ 50Sf per ton | 4″-8″ 40Sf per ton | 8″-16″ 30Sf per ton | 16″-24″ 20Sf per ton
Weedbarrier
Durable material that helps reduce weed growth and aids with keeping stone from sinking in loose sandy soils.
